Kirkcaldy murder victim Alex Forbes was enforcer for gangland boss Robert Kelbie. An enforcer for feared gangland boss Robert Kelbie has been murdered.

The body of Alex Forbes was found in a flat in the early hours of Monday morning. Forbes, 2. 5, is originally from Edinburgh and had close links to the capital’s notorious Kelbie crime clan. A case against him and gangster Robert Kelbie collapsed last month after a key witness failed to attend court. Police confirmed Forbes “sustained a number of serious injuries as a result of this incident and was pronounced dead” at a flat in Victoria Road, 
Kirkcaldy, early on Monday morning. Adrian Hynd, 5. 1, was due to appear at the town’s sheriff court yesterday in connection with Forbes’s death. But the Crown Office confirmed he would not appear in court until further notice.

It is understood Hynd remains in hospital receiving treatment after sustaining injuries. In December, Forbes appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court alongside Kelbie, who was accused of battering business rival Archie Stewart with a knuckleduster, punching the man’s wife in the face and threatening to 
kill his son. Forbes was accused of making violent threats towards Stewart 
while brandishing a knife during the incident at old Lanark Racecourse last June. But the case was dropped after a 
key witness failed to appear for the hearing. Prosecutors decided there would be “no further proceedings at this time” against Kelbie, whose home in 
Edinburgh was struck by gunfire for a second time last September. The incident was thought to be
