The main reason that things worked out better this time is that the directors, Joachim Rnning and Espen Sandberg, take the saga back to its origins. The film brings back everything we love from the first installment of the year 2. It also helps that, although previous films insisted on having a duration of three hours, Dead Men Tell No Tales lasts just over two hours. The film tells a much simpler and more emotional story, which is complemented by a disgusting and fearsome villain. His problem is that sometimes he feels as if he narrates the story in a disorderly way. The film begins very well a young man named Henry is determined to save his father Will Turner, the character of Orlando Bloom, who was sentenced to the sea makes some movies. Henry swears hell do whatever it takes to rescue him from that curse. Later we will meet Carina Kaya Scodelario, who also has a similar desire. The story of the boy who seeks to rescue his parents is a classic in the fantasy world, but it continues to work because it is very emotional. It makes it very easy for us to be interested in Henry and Carina even though they are new characters. Nine years after the prologue Henry has grown up played by Brenton Thwaites and still continues his mission. He believes that the only thing that can break Will Turners curse is Poseidons mythical trident, and the only person who can help him find him is his fathers old friend, Jack Sparrow. Johnny Depp returns to what has become his star character, and although it is still fun to see he never feels as if he fits into Henrys story. Jack is still the same fool and clumsy looking for money and women, without a hint of empathy. Henry is also taken to Jack after encountering the evil ghost of Captain Salazar Javier Bardem, who is looking for Sparrow, and then meets Carina, who is also looking for the trident. We will even see the reappearance of Captain Barbosa Geoffrey Rush, who for some reason is also involved in the plot. This is the bad side of the movie, but it also has many good things. Although the film sometimes feels confused, its action and its epic music never stop, which is wonderful. The presentation of Jack, for example, is one of the best moments in the whole saga. I do not want to give details and ruin the surprise, but I will mention some elements there is an extremely funny execution, ghost sharks, Salazars ghost ship and a brutal combat scene with an epic ending. There is no shortage of creepiness Enchantress is spooky in the early going, before the movie turns her into a ridiculous looking CGI effect. But Davis clear eyed, unapologetic, fully human evil as Waller is only one component in a movie that otherwise does not entirely look to be sure what makes a villain.
